Speaking as someone who is totally new to this content marketing platform, I needed to research how blogging can help me in my academic studies. I quickly became aware of the benefits of blogging from a student’s perspective. By participating in this form of social media, I can gain access to information that I would not normally come across in the academic field. I can interact with professionals who share their ideas, inventions and discoveries online through blogging.
I can acquire information from these professionals, in order to enhance my own learning. Personally, I thought blogging was dead but I discovered that it is not, it is merely evolving. Bloggers use different platforms with millions of followers, such as Snapchat or Instagram as they are popular and current. One blog I read suggested that “useless blogs die and valuable blogs thrive”, this point is clear as people want to learn (Santo, 2018).
But how will this web-based tool work for me and help me with my academic studies? The answer is that I can learn from the bloggers who have “done the research, acquired a deep knowledge of their subject and done all the heavy scholarly lifting, they may choose not to write papers, but rather blog about it” (Day, 2013). This can benefit me as a student, just as much as publishing my own blogs to keep my online journal of new discoveries.
